Case study 4
Problem
A leading UK manufacturer in the electrical motors, generators and power electronics field won a substantial order for the fuel management cooling system on the Boeing 787 (Dreamliner). Their incumbent suppliers were not AS9100 accredited, which was a pre-requisite of the contract from Boeing.
Solution
After an Internet search Tridan was selected as a possible supplier. Tridan underwent a stringent pricing and auditing process culminating in acceptance for an initial order for 15 off prototype parts.
Outcome
Full acceptance of the prototype parts was attained with Tridan engineers reducing cost thro’ design for manufacture. The 15off parts have now moved towards production. Full production of 150/200 per year is expected to be achieved by 2012 with vision for this project been given well beyond 2020.
